On Tuesday, October 15 the Mid-Carolina Boys Swim Team competed at the SCHSL State Swim Meet. To compete at this meet, swimmers must obtain qualifying times. They then compete against all other 1A, 2A, and 3A swimmers that have qualified in the state. The following swimmers participated in the meet:
Ethan Beebe (10th grade)
Seth Beebe (8th grade)
Jack Hammond (10th grade)
Grant Smith (10th grade)
Rhett Smith (11th grade)
Drew Washabau (8th grade)
The 200-yard Medley relay (S. Beebe, E. Beebe, J. Hammond, D. Washabau) finished in 14th place.
Grant Smith was the 2024 State Champion in the 200-yard freestyle. He swam a personal best of 1:40.86. He was only 0.57 seconds off of the state record set in 2017.

Rhett Smith dropped 3.59 seconds on his 200 freestyle for a 15th place finish.
Grant Smith finished 2nd in the 500 freestyle in a very exciting neck and neck race. The first-place finisher only out touched him by 0.15 seconds. Grant cut 10.14 seconds off of his best time of the season.
MC finished 11th in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team was made up of R. Smith, J. Hammond, E. Beebe, and G. Smith.
Rhett Smith swam a season best in the 100-yard breaststroke of 1:11.63 after dropping 2.19 seconds. He finished 17th.
The 400-yard freestyle relay finished in 9th place. The swimmers were S. Beebe, J. Hammond, R. Smith and G. Smith.
Overall, the MC Boys team finished 9th in the state. WAY TO GO, SWIMMING REBELS!
