On Saturday, February 1st the Mid-Carolina High School Archery Team competed in and hosted one of the SC NASP Qualifying tournaments. Mid-Carolina High finished the bullseye tournament in first place with a score of 2,961 total points. Our lead shooters for the boys were Brooks Bowers, Levi Wessinger, and Liam Reitz. Daylen Long led the girls, followed by Emily Self and Kayley Minick. The team also competed in the IBO 3D tournament finishing first. Top shooters for the Rebel archers being Brooks Bowers, Levi Wessinger, and Grayson Wiles for the guys. Top girls for the Rebels at the 3 D range were Daylen Long, Miriam Eshaak , and Emily Self. Daylen Long placed 1st in the girls’ high school division of the Bullseye Tournament with a score of 266, while Emily Self finished 2nd with a score of 265. In the 3D tournament individual awards went to Brooks Bowers for his first-place finish with a score of 273 and Levi Wessinger second with a score of 263. In the girls 3 D division Daylen Long was 3rd with a score of 247. The team now waits to see if their efforts were good enough to qualify for the State Tournament which will be held February 26th at the State Fairgrounds. Coach Jason Long would like to extend many thanks to the parents of these archers for allowing them to practice and participate in the sport of archery. Thanks to the Mid-Carolina JROTC program for supporting the tournament with countless help.
